"Import" can be used to send your saves from other compatible platforms to the iPad using Dropbox.
A Dropbox account and internet connection are required to use the Import option.
To Import:
The Import/Export process uses the Apps/DarkestDungeon folder in Dropbox. If this is your first time using the Dropbox features, you can begin the Import process to set up the directory automatically as follows:
- Start the Darkest Dungeon app
- Touch the Dropbox icon in the bottom-right corner of the main menu
- Select "Import"
- Follow the prompts to sign in to your Dropbox account and allow permissions for the app
- A dialogue will appear about trying to download data. This will not find anything, but it will begin creating the Dropbox directory for you
- Wait a few moments
- Touch the Red 'X' button at the top right of the dialogue popup to cancel the process now that the Dropbox directory is automatically configured
Move the saves to Dropbox that you wish to Import:
- Ensure that the only files inside the Apps/DarkestDungeon folder in Dropbox are uncompressed numbered profile folders. If any files that are not of this format are present here, the operation will stall without warning and will need to be manually cancelled
- * Note that after Exporting, a folder named '[Date]_[Time]_upload' that contains the exported saves will have been placed in this Dropbox Apps/DarkestDungeon folder. If you leave this extra exported folder in Apps/DarkestDungeon it will cause the Import to fail, so ensure that all of these upload folders are removed before attempting to Import
- Retrieve the saves that you wish to Import from your platform of choice, and place them in the Apps/DarkestDungeon Dropbox folder. Save locations are listed in help articles for their respective platforms. Note that these saves are in the correct format of uncompressed numbered profile folders beginning at "profile_0" for the first campaign menu slot
- * Importing saves with mods or DLC enabled that is not available on the iPad may result in errors
Import the prepared saves from Dropbox to iPad:
- Start the Darkest Dungeon app
- Touch the Dropbox icon in the bottom-right corner of the main menu
- Select "Import"
- After downloading cloud data (it may take several minutes depending on how many saves it is), the existing saves will be listed
- * If this process encounters a problem, such as having files of the wrong format in the Dropbox folder, there will not be any error message but the process will continue endlessly. If this happens, you can manually close the window to cancel
- Touch those saves you wish to import and then touch the "Copy" button
- The saves will now be listed in your game's campaign slots on iPad and ready to play
